the jersey life
yesterday brian and i drove down to wildwood. it was the first beach trip of the season and it was great. we sat on the beach. we flew a kite. we collected seashells. we walked the boardwalk. and we did all of this without the hassle of mid-summer tourists. whenever the seasons change i always realize that new jersey is the place that i want to be. when it snows i just want to go play in a field, and god knows we have plenty of them in south jersey. and when it gets warm i want to go to the beach and put my bare toes in the sand. and when there's nothing to do i can get to philly in 30 minutes. as much as i complain about jersey having nothing to do, it's home. i know people here and i LOVE that. the most straight-up people i ever met. from jersey. people don't fuck around here. if they like you, you'll know. if they don't like you, you'll know. and for the most part jersey is accepting. we don't beat you up and chase you out of town just because you're muslim, gay, straight, baptist, methodist. whatever you are, we're accepting. if we chased out everybody that was different who would run our stores, who would pump our gas? actually, who would be here? nobody. we realize this and let people live their lives how they want. of all the places i've been i haven't found people half as chill as people from jersey. our slogan should be: new jersey, we're REAL. when i was younger all i could think about was how i wanted to get out of this hellhole and do something with my life. but now i'm thinking a little differently. when i get a job and decide to put a down payment on a house, it will probablly be in jersey. and when i get married and settle down, it will probablly be in jersey. i love water ice and could never live without wawa. jersey is home. and i'm proud to say that i'm from the dirty.
